Parking For Ben Nevis

There are a few different options when it comes to parking at Ben Nevis. Most people will jump straight into looking for the postcode to type into their Sat Nav. It’s important to remember that a postcode covers a large area so will not always bring you directly to the point you wish to get to.

We generally advise entering the Latitude and Longitude into your Sat Nav instead to ensure you get to the exact point you require.

Ben Nevis Visitor Centre

Parking at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre is the most popular and most used car park. We always advise going into the visitor centre before trekking up Ben Nevis to ensure the weather is suitable and the conditions are safe. This car park is directly next to the visitor centre. There is enough parking for around 80 cars and 4 coaches.

There is a pay and display machine with two options for parking. You can pay £1 or one hour or you can pay £4 for all-day parking. There are toilets located here, which is always handy!

Braveheart Car Park

Whilst this car park is traditionally used for people going for a walk through Glen Nevis, it still can be used to park before going up Ben Nevis. It’s quite a bit smaller though as it only holds about 30 cars. Still a viable option if the Ben Nevis visitor centre is full.

Postcode: PH33 6PF (This leaves you a little bit short of where you need to be. Keep an eye for signposts to the car park.)

North Face Car Park

This car park is generally used by people looking to climb Ben Nevis via the Carn Mor Dearg Arete, which is one of the routes for more experienced mountain walkers. To find this car park, you would need to follow the Forestry Commission signs, which will lead you up a forest road until you reach the car park.

There is room for roughly 30 vehicles at this car park. There is currently no charge to park.

Car Park Near Achintee Farm

Back in the day, this used to be one of the main places to park. However since footbridges were installed at the Ben Nevis visitor centre, which allows you to cross the River Ness much easier, this location doesn’t have as much use as it once did. Parking spots are extremely limited.

We wouldn’t consider parking here unless the car parks above have no spots left. There is no charge to park at this location.
